Nap Sleep

Posted by sam at April 12th, 2004

I was excited when my body told me “I’m tired, I want sleep” at about 9:30 tonight.  Now it’s 11:30 and I’m awake.  I was under the impression, body, that we were going to sleep all night!  Now I won’t be able to sleep until way later, and I’m going to be tired tommarow.  Nice one, body.

Have you guys ever read Penny Arcade?  It’s basically a bunch of un-funny comic strips about loser who can’t get any chicks or whatever.  Well, if you thought those comics were lame, check out the Penny Arcade Remix project.  Basically a a bunch of Japanese kids put their own words in the comic strip’s bubbles.  Then, for some reason, their teacher posted them on the web, for all to “enjoy”.
Also on the web, the headphone fetish page.  Just in case, you know, have a fetish involving women wearing headphones.  [no porn]
Okay, one more!  You gotta see this to believe it.  Actually, if you do believe it there is something seriosuly wrong with you.

Steve’s Obsession with Porn TV

Posted by sam at April 11th, 2004

We just watched The Hulk.  I have mixed
feelings.  I really liked the scene’s where he was pissed off and
throwing stuff around, and I liked the new and somewhat expiremental
scene transitions.  What I didn’t like is how choppy the story
was.  Stan Lee, I guess, is used to telling a long story in a
short space.  He does it well and, unfortuantly, seems to do it in
the movie.  All the lines are really short and have enough weight
in them to tell a large chunk of story.  It was a weird
film.  I give it a A on visuals, and a C on story.

I just walked into the room and Steve was watching
that old lady on TV that talks about sex and other people’s … organs
He seemed to be enjoying himself.  So I stared at him blankly
for a minute and then walked out of the room.  He yelled; “I just
wanted to see how much you could handle!”  Sure, Steve, you just
keep telling yourself that.

I bought new clothes today.  I went to DI and found some pretty sweet digs …

So I was at McDonald’s the other day and I noticed that on all their containers and wrappers they have the words “Put Litter in Its Place” printed on it. Well that is a great little message, until you realize that the proper place for litter is on the ground. You see if you put litter in a proper trash receptacle, it ceases to be litter and becomes garbage. If you did what McDonald’s is advocating you would be leaving litter all over the place.

What a day…

Posted by sam at April 9th, 2004

“Of all the things I’ve lost, I miss my twenty five bucks the most!”

I performed an incredible feat of magic and wonder tonight.  I made twenty five buck completely disappear.  I put it in my pocket at the supermarket, drove home and “Voila!” it was gone!  David Blaine eat your heart out.

    …

Work: Assistant manager now gone, half the staff just quit, and the store manager’s mom is on her deathbed.  Things have run smoother.  I guess that leaves me in charge … get to work!

    …

I applied for a staff writer job today at the school paper.  They crowned a new editor and chief last night, and I happen to know the guy a little bit and he seems really cool.  I think he will make a good contribution because the paper sucked before.  Now I feel comfortable writing for it.

The job is especially cool because it’s volunteer meaning I work as much or as little as I want.

    …

It seems random unplugged items are spontaneously combusting in the town of Canneto di Caronia, Italy.  The cut power to the town but it’s not help.  Everything is catching fire.  Nobody know why.

    …

We are nearing completion on recording a new song.  It’s a slow one, for all you wusses out there.  I’ll post it when we’re done.  It only took me about 8 takes to get the bass part right….

    …

What is the appropriate way to add a friend on LJ?  Can you really be someone’s friend if you just enjoy reading their journal and they don’t even know you?  Do you have to ask?  I added two friends today.  Enfuego, who I know only a little through my little brother - and nofunatparties just because his blog is pretty funny.   Will you guys be my friends? :)

One level voice.

Posted by sam at April 8th, 2004

I decided today that I do have great faith in the American public.  While the majority is somewhat level-headed and intellegent, they are the silent ones.  It’s the minority that is loud, illogical, and pushy

I used to work in customer service and it seemed to me that EVERYONE who shopped at [censor] hated it.  But of course, I was only hearing one group of people - people mad enough to call me.  The great majority of the shoppers at [company X] had a fine experience.

It’s the same with media, we only hear from the people dumb enough to flaunt their idiotic opinions.  Therefore, we have a warped view of reality.  We percieve everyone as messed up and say things like “This country is going to hell” when it’s really a smaller problem than we think.

The sad thing is when these minority opinions gain and kind of power that can change the country.  They figure if they can scream loud enough than they can excuse any stupid idea that they have as legitimate.  Whoever screams the loudest is right.

Even worse than that, if you oppose their opinions you are labeled a racist, bigot, close minded, intollerant, lunatic.  Take gay marriage for example.  We’re going to vote this fall whether to change the meaning of the word marriage to include something that is not in any way prdocutive in society.  In the mean time, if you speak out against the minority opinion you are labeled intollerant, so there is really only one side we’re ever going to hear.

The minority, unfortunatly, controls most of the media.  The media, unfortuantly, controls most of our perceptions of society.

One voice that I think we all neet to hear a little more of is that of Orson Scott Card.  He writes a quasi-weekly column for the Onery American.  Recently he has written about the ever intensifying gay marriage debate.  Although I don’t agree with every last point he makes, I do agree with his main ideas.  Go read the articles if you’re bored.  Here is the first article, and here is the second, more recent, article.

On a side note, transfering files between two PCs is a major problem.  There are programs like waste, but they require less-than-user-friendly setup.  MSN messanger will it do it, but trillian will not.  So I am in the process of downloading MSN messanger so I can get one stinking file.  What’s worse, is all I can get is 1.2kb/sec off the stupid microsoft website!  grrrrrrr…..

Wasting Time….

Posted by sam at April 7th, 2004

I am now using another really cool Mozilla plugin that allows me to set protection on certain cookies.  Now I can protect cookies that I want and blast the others away on a regular basis. Yippie!

I am always on the lookout for places to waste my time online.   My latest places of interest are extrabad.com and any Amy Winfrey site.   I was especially impressed by Brian Frisk’s portfolio (the guy who does extrabad).  Of course, nothing has beaten good ‘ol homestar yet.
This is an eye - just because I can.

Deepest Sender

Posted by sam at April 6th, 2004

I have found the coolest mozilla plugin.  It adds a livejournal client to mozilla so you don’t need a seperate client (or the web interface - ick!).  You can even add it to the sidebar, which is convenient for when your searching around for hyperlinks.

Two problems so far:  (1) Lack of spell checker, a must have for me! (2) It randomly erased my last post before I published it when I tried to use the “detect current music” feature.  Not good, we’ll see how it stand up against w.bloggar.

My current life’s quandry is what to do with Gthing.net.  It is currently back to it’s tikiwiki self - problem is, the site is too big and feature packed for such a small userbase.  It seems easy to get lost.  Nobody cares about the site.  I’ll keep it just for the email address, but it seems like a waste not to have something useful up there.  If you have any ideas, post them to this article!

If anyone cares, Daniel’s computer is down due to ignoramous dishTV installers.  Should be back up tomorrow sometime.

Wow…

Posted by sam at April 5th, 2004

Wow, it’s been a busy couple of days. To start off, our landlord rented out the adjacent apartment where our internet paraphernalia (router, modem, etc…) was located, so we had to move it. unfortunately, the cable signal is degraded so much by the time is gets to our apartment that we cannot get a usable signal for internet. We ran a new cable tonight into our apartment, so now internet is up and running. The other upside to this is now I have my server back up and running and can be accessed here.

unfortunately I am completely and utterly out of money. I don’t get paid until Friday, and my gas tank is low. Anyone need a kidney?

My new neighbor is a musical manager/performer/etc. He wants to manage my band. He claims to be in the biz and says he got Ryan Shupe where he is and can get us a huge record deal. He wants to send us on a nationwide bus tour this summer. He talks big, but I’d be interested to see if he can actually perform so I told him “well, lets see what you can do!” and gave him a list of venues we wanted to play at. I’ll keep you posted on the outcome.
