    The provo people went camping last night.  Steve, McCall, Juanita, and I all went up to the campsite to visit, but left before everyone went to bed.

    When we got there, we walked down to the lake and saw a bunch of our friends paddling around in canoes.  I was suprised so I asked one of my friends “Hey, where did you guys get the canoes.”  I was told that the canoes were rentals and that you had to rent the ores, so they just took the canoes and were using sticks to paddle around.

    I looked around the lake, which was pretty small, and thought to myself “There’s no place here to rent canoes…”  Sure enough, after a few minutes a confused looking man walked over wondering why we were all paddling around in his canoes. 

    So after the canoes got taken away we’re sitting their and Dan starts fishing.  I’m thinking his fishing pole looks pretty small … a few minutes an another man comes by wondering why Dan is using his son’s fishing pole. 

    Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a forest agency set up to just supply people with free outdoor sporting equiopment?  You’d just show up at the campsite, and there would be a tent all ready - you just have to call it; “I got dibs on the green one!” There would be canoes at the dock, and fishing pole and bait to use?  Seems unrealistic to me, but apparently not to my friends…

    Oh I forgot to mention I got a corporate credit card today.  How awesome is that?  It has my name and company on it and everything.  I could use it to impress chicks!

    So I went back to the chiropractor today.  He showed me all my x-rays and said my back and neck were all jacked up.  Cool.  The first thing he did was hook me up to these crazy electrodes and then turned the power way up so I was all twitching and stuff.  Then as soon as I stopped twitching he turned it up again.  It was supposed to relax my muscles, but I kind of strained them instead.

    So then he twisted me around like a pretzel and popped m back and neck and sent me on my way.  He said our visits would be 10 minutes three times a week before work.  Cool.  We’ll see if it helps though.  He did say that if I go over my $3000 alottment then the insurance company has to give me pain and suffering money.  Well, I deserve it, so maybe I’ll go see a massage therapist too.

    Well, since the accident last week, my back has become increasingly sore.  I find it difficult to sleep because I cannot find a comfortable position.  So today I talked to the insurance lady and she said to go see a chiropractor.  I’ve always thought these guys were witch doctors, but I figured “what the hell?”

    So I started calling through the phone book.  The first thing I learned was that chiropractors have really weird hours.  Nobody was answering their phones and I was getting messages like “We’re open Monday 8 to 10, 12 to 2 and at 3, then Tuesday through thursday at 17 and 42 and Friday until 9am.” 

    I eventually decided I would just go to the first place that answered the phone.  Finally I found one who would answer and they set up an appointment for Friday.  Being unsatisfied I called one more place.  Someone picked up and I set up an appointment for today.

    So I met with Dr. Roller today after work (after picking up my now fixed car and having dinner with Laura).  The whole thing was a bit weird.  I just wanted him to punch me in the back a few times ans send me on my way but instead I filled out a 20 page form that asked everything from my mothers maiden name to what kind of toothpaste my little brother uses. 

    My neck didn’t hurt when I went in, but after filling out all those forms, it was strained from looking down.  I see the trick here! 

    Anyway, after all those forms he came in and looked at me.  He had me bend this way and that and asked me all sorts of questions.  He also took about 10 x-rays.  By about the 4th shot of radiation through my neck I was thinking “This can’t be healthy…”

    After that he sent me home.  I was disappointed that he didn’t do anything to make me feel better.  We set up an appointment for Friday.  So that means two more sleepless uncomfortable nights.  Hopefully he will kick my back’s ass on Friday so I can sleep better.  Hot damn, all I want is a freakin therapeutic massage.

    I finally got around to hanging up some pictures in my new room.  I also did some other general decorating.

    For example, I now have a rendition of space invaders on my wall.  I’ve seen this before, and there’s a kit you can buy with wall decals to do the same thing, but it’s rdiculously expensive.  I just drew all the figures in mspaint and printed them out on glossy photopaper.

    I bought some new shoes today.  I went down to Provo and got a gift certificate I won from a contest at my old work.  It was to the mall, so I went to Journey’s and picked out some new shoes.

    The guy who was selling them to me was really excited to sell me everything in the store.  After I picked up some shoes he started trying to sell me socks too.

    “This whole rack is 5 packs of socks, and they’re all just eight bucks, man.  It’s a really great deal.  We got any kind of socks you want.”

    “You have any kind?” I asked in disbelief.

    “Yea, we got low rise, ankle socks, tube socks, kneee socks,” this guy really knows his socks…

    “But do you have the kind with individual toes?”

    “Toe socks?!”  the guy got a disgusted look on his face, and started trying to sell me some ankle socks again.

    Well, the guy shouldn’t say he has any kind of socks if he doesn’t even have toe socks.  I need to get me some of those!

    Despite my frequent rantings on our messed up medical system, and my promises to never go to the emergency room again, I made another visit today.  At least this time it will be on someone else’s tab.

    Dan and I were sitting at a red light waiting to get on the highway when a lady plowed into the back of us and gave me some pretty good whiplash.  I went down to the emergency room and the doctor had me do some x-rays and stuff (which I got to keep so I will post them on here sometime soon).

    Anyway, he said my neck bones are all fine, but that my muscle got stretched out and torn up so I will have some pain until it heals.  About 30 different people told me I would wake up in the morning with worse pain, so I’m looking forward to that.
   
    They gave me a doctors note so I don’t have to work tomorrow.  I will probably still go in, but we’ll see how I feel in the morning.

    I went down to Provo tonight and picked up my hooptie wagon so I would have something to drive for a few days while my car is in the shop.  Miraculously, it made it up to Salt Lake.  We’ll see if it makes it to work and back.
