Feed your face on the cheap

Posted by sam at January 31st, 2006

For all my homies in the Utah hood, Uncle Sam is gonna teach you how to get $40 worth of pizza for $5.  Listen up.

Go to Utahsbest.com and find the pizza place you wanna go to.  My choice was Rising Crust.  They are running a promotion *today* for buy 3 get 1 free gift certificates that are already 50% off.  So you’re at $15 for your $40 worth of gift certificates.  Now enter the promotion code: cingular10 to take another $10 off and now you have a total of $5.

You can have the certificates sent to you, or you can pick them up in Orem.  That’s, like, a weeks worth of food for $5!

If you didn’t catch this the day the promotion was, your total should be $10, still a great deal.  And, nobody is saying you NEED to buy pizza, there is plenty of other stuff on there too.

(Thanks Tripp)

Island City

I am selling this print on ebay.  It’s $5 with free shipping (48 states).  I am doing it to fund my mad scientist projects, which will be posted here.  If it works and I sell it, I will probably post another one, and another one, until it stops working.

It is an 8×10 matte print.  Go buy it.

Arrested Development, Sewellcast, Sleep

Posted by sam at January 29th, 2006

My boss has recently been getting me into Arrested Development.  It is no small thing to get me hooked on any television show because:

    A. I don’t watch television
    B. I hate most virtually all shows
    C. I don’t watch them unless I can download them

Well, he burned me season 2 this week, and I’ve already watched it (at the cost of my sleep/sanity).

The show is intelligent and witty enough to keep me watching.  But they always leave me a little depressed, because the family is so jacked up.  I feel sorry for the few characters that deserve being felt sorry for.

We started the “Sewellcast” at work.  I short (5 minutes or so) daily podcast outlining cool products that we sell.  Perhaps nobody will listen, but it’s fun anyway, and the audio will be available on product pages for people who are investigating the products.

If you want to listen, go to www.sewellcast.com and subscribe, or just check a few out (at the time of writing there is nothing there yet, but we have recorded 3 episodes which should be posted soon, and you can still subscribe).

I stayed in bed all Saturday.  There was no reason for it.  I just didn’t feel like doing anything.  Besides, despite the fact that it was 80 degrees in my room I was cold as hell and perfectly fine with being wrapped up in my blankets.  I finally did get out of bed around 8 or 9 and went out for a few hours.  Having gone to bed at midnight, that makes 20 hours of sleep.

Having slept for 20 hours, I thought I should stay up all night tonight, which I have now successfully done.  Today I will be trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with me, and going to church.

disclaimer:  I don’t consider “hell” to be a curse word.  Other words I do not consider curse words, or consider borderline:  damn, bitch, ass.

I have some new awesome projects I want to build:  A portable pocket sized EMP, infrared goggles, an infrared 3.5 million candlepower spotlight, and some other cool stuff.  Unfortunately I have run out of money.  SOOOO, I am selling a print on ebay.  It is an 8×10 of the Island City, and you can check it out here.  It’s $5 with free shipping to the 48 states.  You have my promise that all proceeds will go to funding awesome stuff that I am going to make and then post here.

Crappy Music from Yester-year

Posted by sam at January 27th, 2006

I was going through some old minidiscs from my mission in Washington D.C. and I came across these gems.  I don’t claim they’re good, but they do bring back some memories.

A room-mate and I decided to do a ganster rap from the perspective of Laman and Lemuel.  This is what we ended up with.
Laman and Lemuel

On Oct. 25 2001 we held an activity where we formed a mission band and played a few songs.  I “played” the drums.  These are they:

Edwin’s Tale 1862
Washington D.C South Mission (Hotel California)
Cries (Sorry Steve)

Coolest job ever

Posted by sam at January 27th, 2006

My boss has been talking about doing a technology podcast to help promote our products and today he let me loose with the company credit card to hook up a podcast studio.  I acquired an 8 channel USB mixer, microphones, stands, etc. and we recorded our first podcast this afternoon.  We will be getting a domain to host it on.  How cool is that?  10.  10 is how cool that is.

On my way home from work I was driving down the street and for some reason all the cars in front of me were stopped.  There is no stop light there or anything, I figured it was just usual retarded Utah driver stuff.  Anyway I had almost come to a complete stop when some girl slammed into the back of me.  It hurt really bad, but having experience in this area I know the worst pain is the next day.

Someone come take care of me.

Blah, at least I get to go back to the massage therapist…

Will someone please explain to me why it is that for the many months I did not have a job I had more disposable income then ever?  I did whatever I wanted all the time and had plenty of money to do it.  Now that I do have a job, I’m poor as hell and I have a bunch of bills due?

Introducing - the SAM CAM!

Posted by sam at January 24th, 2006

Visitors to GThing.net will now notice a new picture over to the right left (besides the cool new looking menu).  It is the mobile SamCam!

The mobile SamCam is a live webcam of sorts that goes with me everywhere I go because it happens to be my phone!  If I can figure out a way to wear my phone without looking like a tool, then you will see awesome updates all the time (like every 30 seconds or so if its on).

You can visit the control room to see a time lapse of recent pictures, or look in the archives!

Beta test for me, please!

Posted by sam at January 24th, 2006

I just finished putting up the guitarnight.com website.  Yes, after owning the domain for forever I finally put up the site.

It’s a bit rocky, but I’d love if you would go test it out.  Create an account, post some messages, etc.  All the better if you’re actually interested in guitar night.

Let me know if you run into any problems and what improvements can be made.

    Thanks!

Posted by sam at January 23rd, 2006

If you do a nice little google search for “super awesome villains forever,” you will notice that I OWN that term on google and that my blog, or links to it come up in the first three spots.  That’s right, I rock.

MexiCrap (c)2005

H
H,
originally uploaded by gthing.

I’ve been making all sorts of diffent things lately.  None of them have been food until today.  Introducing MexiCrap 1.0 beta.  This is one of my first journey’s into the world of gourmet cooking.  I will tell you how you can make your very own MexiCrap 1.0 beta.

You will need:

Some chicken (like 2 chicken breasts - mine were breaded).
Some rice (as much as you want.  I used brown rice)
White sweet corn (mmmm)
Enchilada sauce

I chose enchilada sauce because it’s my second favorite sauce, and we didn’t have any Arby’s sauce.  Basically you just cook everything according to it’s instructions, heat up the sauce, and mix it all together.  Tada!  Now you’re cooking GThing style.
