why do you prefer it this way? personally, i am a visual browser. i like to look at pictures of everything...if i'm attracted by the pictures or title, i read, otherwise, i tend to skip over it...and...i've always seemed to like safari...i have firefox, but for some reason i always just go with safari...seems to be faster than firefox...am i wrong? is firefox faster than safari??

As I am now employed to make pretty intarnets, I couldn't stand to use Linux. I do use Safari though, simply because Firefox seems to like to act faulty on my Mac.

Consider upgrading to ELinks (http://elinks.or.cz/). It pretty much is a modernized Lynx. Console-based, but better rendering.
