Here are some photos from our trip to LA, and a running narration.

So we left Thursday evening at about 7:30.  Steve and I got home from work, packed our bag, and headed out the door.  Here we are in the car sometime shortly after we left.

We drove for about 3 1/2 hours and hit St. George, which is right on the south border of Utah.  We called Googlebop (Carissa) as well as our friend Bruce, but neither one was home so we hung out around town for a little bit until Googlebop got home and went to visit her.

After that we went and slept at Bruce’s place.

We got up early the next morning and headed out in the direction of California.  We decided to write and record a song in the car on the way.  I wrote the music with Steve’s input, and then he did vocals, although we never did finish.  Here is Steve in the car recording vocals and driving (don’t try this at home).

Sometime after Vegas we noticed a lot of flooding in the area.  It actually looked kinda cool.  There was a whole row of power line structures just sitting in the water and it looked really odd.  I didn’t manage to get a picture of that, but here is a fence sitting in the water.

Fast Forward.

We went to a big Mormon dance that was held in a giant pyramid at Cal State.  I found a pic of it on the net.

We met some cool people and ended up staying with our buddy Royce that night.

New Years day we went out exploring.  First we went and ate chicken and waffles at Roscoe’s.  After that we headed to the LA temple and took some pictures.

I set the timer on my camera and as I we were posing for this picture a family came walking around the corner.  We had to stand there for a few second and wait for the picture to take, so the family was looking at us like we were crazy.

After that we went and picked up our friend Kali, who we met at the pyramid, because she had a few hours before she had to get on her plane to N. Carolina where she is going to school (but she’s from Australia).  We took her to the beach and sat around and played guitar and had a good time.

We decided, after dropping her off at the airport to head home, so we got back on the road.  We hit Vegas at about 2:00am and there were still tons of people up and partyin’, but hey it’s Vegas.

We only had $10 left in our gas fund, which would not get us home.  So we took $5 each and hit the nickel slots.  I ended up doubling my five, and Steve tripled his.  Ten dollars becoming Twenty Five meant that we could now afford to drive home.

We hopped back in the car and hit St. George at about 6am.  This time we crashed at Carissa’s place.  IT was the best sleep I had the whole trip.  I don’t do well on couch’s, and for some reason Carissa has a bed in her living room.  We woke up at about 2pm, had oatmeal and hung out with Carissa for a bit and headed home.

We got in at about 7pm and went over to Jeremy and Bethia’s for cookies!

THE END

Post Script:

While at the temple, I saw some statues and thought of all my LJ friends who take such awesome pictures (Enfuego, Flyonthewall, Subconcious , etc.)  So I snapped a couple photos with my cheap little camera.  They’re supposed to be artsy and cool like those other guys’.
