Why I will never go to the hospital again
I've said it before, and I will say it again. Never again will I go to the emergency room at the hospital. If I go, I better be unconscious.
At the end of 2003 I went to the emrgency room twice for heart problems. Well you know what, they didn't fix a damn thing, and debt collectors have been harassing me ever since. Not that they should - I *HAVE* insurance, and I *PAID* my deductables.
I've ended up paying a few of the bills that insurance should have covered out of pocket, but there are like 50 bills that come from one visit - you can't keep track. You get a bill from the doctor, a bill from the nurse, a bill from the guy who looks at youe EKG, a bill from the bedpan. It's sick. they need to consolidate all these bills into one massive bill.
So last I dealt with this was in January. I was trying to get a car loan and all these bills were showing up on my credit report as unpaid. So I took care of many of them.
I contacted one collector and asked them why insurance hadn't covered it. Eventually I found out they were sending the bills to some office halfway around the country that has nothing to do with my insurance compnay. So I gave them the correct address to send the bill to.
Fast forward to now and I'm getting a call from this asshole who keeps leaving messages in my voicemail that he has an "important business matter" to discuss. My ass you have a business matter. If he was honest and said he was trying to collect I might call him back and see what he's on about.
So he finally got ahold of me today and told me I owed him $650 for services rendered in 2003. He said if I did not pay by noon on the 29th he would take legal action.
So I called my insurance company. They showed the bill as PAID on the 4th of April. It had been denied (because it took the retards a year to file a proper claim), appealed, approved, and PAID PAID PAID.
So I called the asshole back at the collections agency. I told him that it had been paid. He told me I needed to pay him anyway or they would take legal action. I told him to go ahead and waste his time and money getting a lawayer to serve me papers. I will just show the judge the paperwork from my insurance company. Maybe I can get a cease and desist order out of him.
What kind of business wants you to pay them twice? Who are these assholes who have so much power over our credit?
The moral of this story, kids, is that even though government healthcare is lower in quality, it is a better alternative than the retarded monkies who are running our health care industry. I would rather go to some third world country and get healthcare, risking disease and death, than go someplace in the US and have them harass me for years afterwards. They save your life for what? So they can make it a living hell.
